What is Thailand TESOL?

     Thailand TESOL is a professional non-profit and non-political organization under the patronage of H.R.H Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra. Its purposes are to strengthen English Language Education at all levels, to undertake research in the teaching of English to speakers of other languages, to offer scholarships, to disseminate information, and to cooperate in appropriate ways with other groups having similar concerns. Thailand TESOL is composed of volunteers who are teachers of English at all types of educational institutions in Thailand. It is organized into thirty-eight member executive committee comprised of the last two past presidents, the ten officers (President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Webmaster, Public Relations and Membership Coordinator), three member-at-large, six chairpersons of the Special Interest Groups (SIGs), and six local affiliate chairs. Thailand TESOL has six affiliates located in Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Roi-et, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Naradhiwas and Kanchanburi. There are additional committee members invited from various organizations i.e. RELO, US Embassy, British Council. Australian Embassy, AUA, etc. 

 

International Affiliation

     Thailand TESOL is an affiliate of TESOL, Inc. located in the United States of America; the International Association of Teachers of English as a foreign Language (IATEFL), located in Great Britian; JALT, located in Japan; Korea TESOL, located in South Korea; PALT, located in the Philippines; ETAROC, located in Taiwan; FEELTA, located in Russia; TEFLIN, located in Indonesia; JACET, located in Japan; MELTA, located in Malaysia.

 

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) of Thailand TESOL

     One of the benefits of becoming a member of Thailand TESOL is to keep oneself up-to-date with professional knowledge, including ELT innovation and technology. Thailand TESOL members can have access to numerous professional developments through participating in SIG seminars and workshops as well as idea sharing in the following schemes:

  • English for Specific Purpose (ESP)
  • Research (RES)
  • Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL)
  • Secondary Teacher Education (STEd)
  • Literature and Literacy (LIT)
  • Intercultural English Language Learning and Teaching (IELLT)

     Thailand TESOL members are people who are concerned with the teaching of English to speakers of other languages at any educational level. They are from all over Thailand and the world.

     Thailand TESOL members have access to numerous professional development activities. Every year, Thailand TESOL organizes seminars and workshops on a regular basis and holds an annual international conference. Members can attend events at a reduced rate.

     We welcome all of you to apply for the member of Thailand TESOL. Nowadays, there is no subscription fee and you are able to go to the website of Thailand TESOL: www.thailandtesol.org and access to the registration page for membership and follow the instruction step by step.
